What we did this week - 12th March

We have been busy doing lots of assessment activities this week in preparation for Miss Joanne to write our reports. Phonics has involved using all the skills we have acquired so far in a range of blending, segmenting and letter formation activities.
We are building words on the phonic word mats
Blending word jigsaws
Sequencing the pictures from the story
In Literacy and topic this week, we have been learning all about life cycles. We read the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle and discussed how different animals change and grow. We sequenced story pictures, painted and collaged the foods from the story and made our own life cycle flow charts.

Using play dough to make the life cycle stages of the caterpillar

We enjoyed playing this game on Cbeebies in Numeracy, where we got to design our own butterfly. Try it at home on http://www.bbc.co.uk /cbeebies/games/atoz/b#/lb/ charlieandlola/butterflygallery.

Sorting objects for each animal

In topic, we learned about the life cycle of a flower and a ladybird. We also discussed what pets need and sorted objects to match the correct animals. In Numeracy this week, we began learning about capacity and weight. We will continue this in the final week.
